Malaysian Education

Many have complained about the poor state of the Malaysian education system. While I am inclined not to disagree, it would be good to understand the education system as it stands, what is wrong with it and whether it is the system or the people that is contributing to its poor state. My sense is that it is a little bit of both.

We are all quick to point the finger at the government by citing the ever-changing syllabus, the increased number of subjects, the flip-flop of teaching Maths and Science in English and the racial polarisation of students in schools.

The question is what can we do about it? Do we keep lobbying the government to reform the education system? If so, how do we construct a comprehensive reform of the education system?

While I am sure volumes of hard work by many organisations and commissions have poured their heart and soul in structuring reforms, it would be good to know what has been proposed and what has been incorporated into the system.

Having said that, my true passion lies in understanding the role of private enterprise as a beacon of knowledge and resource development in the country.

Would love to hear your thoughts on the above.
